Scape sought to appoint a Number 2 to the Investment Director after the incumbent transitioned into a new role. This created a need for an experienced professional who could lead on transactions while mentoring junior team members. The hire required a well-rounded skillset, combining full transaction cycle expertise with strong technical capabilities.

(Challenge)

We identified 103 suitable candidates and shared market insights on salary and bonus benchmarks across the pool. A targeted headhunting approach, supported by tailored marketing materials, ensured strong engagement with prospects. To further strengthen the process, we created a compelling showcase page and job description that highlighted the company’s achievements, ethos, and long-term vision.

(Solution)

All candidates were assessed on both technical expertise and cultural fit through pre-interview meetings and assignments, leading to a shortlist of 10 top-tier individuals. The interview process involved all key stakeholders, evaluating both professional capability and behavioural attributes. We then managed the offer stage, negotiations, and resignation process to ensure a smooth hire.

The Outcome

Scape successfully appointed a Senior Investment Manager who exceeded expectations, with the client noting they “would happily have employed four of those shortlisted.” Since then, Rockbourne has gone on to place four out of the five professionals in Scape’s investment team.
