Heim – Investment Team Build

Heim Global Investor, the sister business to the European giant, Heimstaden, launched a new (target) £800 UK Residential fund – targeting a 5,000-unit portfolio across the top UK cities. The business was set up to offer new investment products to a wider range of investors while making use of Heimstaden’s residential expertise.
Delivering on Heim’s ambitions required more than capital — it demanded a high-calibre investment team able to source, structure, and execute deals at scale while building trusted relationships with institutional investors. With major commitments underway and a strong pipeline ahead, Heim needed to quickly expand its team to manage both near-term fund launches and long-term growth. Rockbourne was retained to recruit an Investment Director and two Associates — critical hires that strengthened Heim’s investment capacity, supported its £800m UK fund target, and laid the foundation for broader European platform expansion.
We engaged with 628 candidates across three targeted searches, balancing technical expertise with cultural alignment for Heim — a new but highly credible entrant in the European living sector. For the Investment Director, we focused on proven residential real estate professionals with end-to-end transaction experience, strong origination and execution skills, and the ability to build trusted investor relationships. For the Associate roles, numerical strength and modelling capability were essential, with candidates assessed for analytical rigour and financial acumen. Across all three mandates, cultural fit was as critical as technical ability, with Heim seeking individuals who could thrive in a flat, collaborative, and non-ego environment. To drive engagement, we created tailored showcase pages highlighting Heim’s culture and growth ambitions, while shortlisted candidates completed both technical and behavioural assessments ahead of client submission. Each process followed a structured three-stage format, with case studies at the second stage to test role-specific competencies, ensuring Heim gained a clear and holistic view of each candidate’s capability and fit.
