Compton – Head of Business Rates

Compton, a leading Central London real estate advisor founded in 2020, was looking to expand into the Business Rates sector by hiring its first Head of Rating.
The role required deep technical expertise, knowledge of the Central London market, and someone who could operate commercially within a fast-paced, growing advisory platform. Given the visibility of the hire and its impact on future service lines, cultural fit was equally critical.
We worked with the leadership team to define what success looked like, balancing technical competencies with behavioural attributes. We mapped 123 candidates with expertise in business rates and commercial surveying, focusing on those with a strong track record in the Central London market. Tailored outreach reflected the firm’s brand and ambition, while candidates were assessed on technical knowledge, communication style, commercial mindset, and cultural fit with Compton. This produced a shortlist of six strong individuals for structured interviews with the senior team. We then managed the process end-to-end, covering interview logistics, offer negotiation, and resignation support.

Compton successfully appointed a Head of Rating with the technical expertise, client credibility, and cultural alignment needed to launch and lead a new business line. The targeted, efficient process delivered a high-quality shortlist that gave the leadership team full confidence in their final decision.
