CEG had a clear ambition to scale — with plans to double AUM, raise new capital, and improve operational efficiency across the business.
Outdated manual data systems were slowing decision-making and reporting, creating the need for a Head of Portfolio Analytics & Performance to transform internal data capability. This senior, high-impact role required a rare mix of analytical expertise, leadership strength, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across investment, development, and finance teams.
We partnered with the leadership team to define the core outcomes of the role, shaping a brief that balanced technical expertise with behavioural alignment. We mapped 217 candidates across two pools — portfolio analytics leaders from top-tier investment firms and senior finance professionals with strong data and reporting experience. Bespoke marketing materials highlighted the role’s scope, impact, and growth potential, while candidates were evaluated on technical skills, communication style, leadership traits, and cultural fit. A structured process included senior stakeholder interviews and a practical task to assess real-world capability. We then managed the search end-to-end, covering offer strategy, transition planning, and onboarding.

Following a short pause during the process, CEG successfully appointed a Head of Portfolio Analytics & Performance who met all technical and leadership requirements.
